My Welsh Dragon

I was recently asked if I had a Welsh dragon pattern. I looked in my filing cabinet and found a pattern and uploaded it to my computer. I scanned it and enlarged it. I trimmed the pattern and pinned it to two sheets of red felt. I cut it out and embroidered the markings with black embroidery floss. The pieces were sewn together using the buttonhole stitch while stuffing the dragon lightly. He turned out well and my son, named after his Welsh 2nd great grandfather, loves him. My next project will be to make a shadowbox minus the glass enclosure and then hang it in my son's room.

The Moon and the Stars

I created this moon and stars pin by painting it yellow and outlining in light orange. The stars were painted lavender. It measure 3 1/2 by 2-inches.

3 Planes and a Whale

When I have small scraps of material left over I don't throw them away. Instead I save them and place then in a designated basket. When I have a few minutes at the sewing machine I will stitch up a few little pins. I created three colorful planes and one whale. They measure 2 1/2 to 3-inches.

A School of Goldfish

With scraps of muslin and pumpkin orange paint, I created these little one inch goldfish swimming together. There is a light wire connecting them all which could easily turn this pin doll into a braclet.

January 2009 Pin Doll Swap

The theme for January 2009 pin doll swap was Chinese New Year Dragon. Members were asked to create their version of the dragon. I selected the dragon depicted in the traditional Chinese New Year parade. I created this dragon for my swap partner, Sandy Walker.

December 2008 Pin Doll Swap

The theme for the 2008 December was Christmas Angel. I created a little girl wearing a handmade wings set and halo, similiar to the ones I made for our own Christmas pageant years ago, for my swap partner Mary Mangini.

November 2008 Pin Doll Swap

For the November theme of Pin Doll Alley, members were asked to make a mini quilt for their swap partner.I made this mini quilt pin for my swap partner Rose. The squares on the quilt were 1-inch x 1-inch.

Gingerbread Cookies In Love!

I baked so many gingerbread cookies over the holidays that I had some dough leftover. I made a batch yesterday and when I went to remove the cookies from the baking sheet two of the cookies refused to let go of one another. Awwww.....isn't that cute. Cookie anyone?
